AKRON, Ohio — A 15-year-old boy died Tuesday evening after being accidentally shot during a dog attack at a home in Akron, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Officials said the incident happened at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of Packard Drive when a friend arrived at the home to visit the teen.
According to investigators, the dog attacked the visitor, and during the struggle both the teenager and the dog were shot.
The 15-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.
Authorities have not yet released the teen’s identity, pending notification of family members and completion of an autopsy.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
