MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — Local law enforcement officials are investigating a reported shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in the 1100 block of Broadway Street in Martins Ferry.
According to the Martins Ferry Police Department, officers responded to the area shortly after residents reported hearing several gunshots. Police from Bridgeport and deputies from the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
Witnesses told officers they saw a dark-colored sedan that appeared to be chasing a person on foot just before the gunfire was heard. That individual was then allegedly seen entering a red Cadillac sedan and fleeing the area before police arrived.
At the scene, officers discovered several spent shell casings and collected additional evidence related to the incident.
