WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred early Friday morning.
At approximately 2:25 a.m., police and fire personnel responded to a report of a vehicle crash on the westbound Interstate 70 Exit 1A off-ramp to downtown.
According to police, the vehicle was exiting the interstate onto Main Street when it rolled over from the exit ramp onto Main Street and struck a guardrail.
One occupant was ejected from the vehicle and transported to WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital with serious injuries. Two other occupants sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital by the Wheeling Fire Department.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown. The incident remains under investigation by the Wheeling Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
The roadway reopened to all traffic just after 9 a.m. Friday.
