Shadyside Police Arrest Man on Drug, Evidence Tampering Charges

SHADYSIDE, Ohio — A man was arrested early Saturday morning in Shadyside after officers discovered crack cocaine hidden near a dumpster during a routine patrol.

According to the Shadyside, Ohio Police Department, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of October 4, as officers were patrolling an area where recent criminal activity had been reported.

An officer made contact with a male subject standing on a sidewalk near a residence. While speaking with him, the officer noted several suspicious behaviors and determined the individual did not live in the area.

During the encounter, the man allegedly tried to conceal a black zip-up container beneath a large dumpster. Officers recovered the container and found a bag containing a white powder-like substance inside. Field testing later confirmed the substance to be crack cocaine.

The suspect, identified as Richard E. Hall, was taken into custody and transported to the Belmont County Jail, where he was booked on charges of possession of drugs and tampering with evidence.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
