JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Jefferson County Commission updated the community on the future of the former Eastern Gateway Community College property as discussions continue with Youngstown State University which expressed plans to utilize the property.
While the agreement between the county and YSU has not yet been finalized, officials say progress is being made behind the scenes to prepare for a smooth transition. YSU representatives are reportedly taking preliminary steps, including exploring signage and facility updates, to be ready once the deal is complete.
Funding remains an important factor in determining how quickly the project can move forward, but county leaders expressed confidence that state support will help bring the plans to fruition.
