Wetzel County Schools to Close Magnolia and Valley High

WETZEL COUNTY, W.Va. — The West Virginia Board of Education approved a series of school closures and consolidations in Wetzel County Wednesday, marking a major shift in the county’s education landscape.

The board authorized the closure of Magnolia High School and Valley High School, two long-standing institutions in the area. Additionally, the district will consolidate grades six through eight from three existing schools into a new middle school to be built at Porter Falls.

The official closure of Magnolia High School and Valley High School will take place once the newly constructed consolidated school in Porter Falls is completed.
