BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — A Belmont County Jail inmate is facing additional charges after allegedly attacking two corrections officers during Monday’s facility lockdown.
Myreik Trevette Fryson allegedly punched both a male and female corrections officer in the face, according to Sheriff James Zusack. Both officers sustained minor facial injuries but remained on duty.
Fryson has been moved to an isolated booking area away from the general jail population. According to Zusack, Fryson acknowledged the assault and admitted wrongdoing during questioning, but Zusack emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for attacks on jail staff.
Fryson was initially booked on charges of theft, failure to appear in court, and contempt of court.
