Hundreds Near St. Clairsville Left Without Water, Stuck with 2-Day Boil Order While Wedding Venue Gets Tap

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Hundreds of residents outside St. Clairsville are without water service Tuesday as Belmont County Water crews install a tap for the new Crescent Acres wedding venue on Crescent Road.

A water department employee told River News that service was cut at 8:08 a.m. Tuesday morning and is not expected to be restored until around 2 p.m., resulting in an approximately six-hour outage. River News received notice of the shutoff via email at 8:43 a.m., and it does not appear that affected residents were notified in advance.

The outage affects water customers along Crescent Road, Posocco Drive, Hells Kitchen Road, Prokes Road, Front Street, and Barton-Crescent Road — a major disruption for hundreds of residents to accommodate a single business, especially without advance notice.

Officials warn that once service is restored, a 48-hour boil advisory will be in effect for all consumption purposes. Residents are advised to boil water before drinking, cooking, or using it for household needs until further notice. The Belmont County Health Department previously told River News that consuming unsafe water can result in illness or even death depending if any contaminants or pathogens are present.
