Martins Ferry names high school principal as next superintendent

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — The Martins Ferry School District has chosen its next superintendent from within, appointing high school principal Joe Mamone to take over when superintendent Jim Fogle retires.

The board of education voted to make the appointment at Tuesday’s meeting. Mamone has been with the district for 22 years.

Mamone said his priorities include stabilizing the district’s finances, which have forced restructuring and operational changes in recent years, and eventually expanding programs and pathways for students, potentially including new learning facilities.
