MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — Marshall County Sheriff Mike Daugherty says a man is facing felony charges following a shooting Monday afternoon in Moundsville.
According to the sheriff, a call came into the county 9-1-1 center around 2:45 p.m. reporting a man had been shot at a residence on Lani Lane.
First responders arrived to find a 26-year-old man lying on his back with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was conscious and able to communicate before being transported by medical helicopter to Morgantown for treatment.
Investigators say the victim and 28-year-old Alex Wilkerson had allegedly been pointing firearms at each other in what was described as a “playful manner” when Wilkerson’s gun discharged.
Deputies took Wilkerson into custody. He is charged with felony malicious wounding.
