Local Ice Cream Shop Temporarily Closes After Windstorm Causes Power Loss

COLUMBIANA, Ohio – A Columbiana County ice cream shop has temporarily closed after a tree fell across the street and struck power lines during Friday’s windstorm.

Lovie’s Ice Cream on Main Street in Columbiana said in a Facebook post that the incident caused the shop to lose power, prompting staff to safely evacuate both employees and customers from the building.

Although power has since been restored, the outage caused the business to lose all frozen products and other items stored in refrigerators and freezers. As a result, all ice cream and related products were deemed a total loss.

The shop will remain closed until further notice while new ice cream is made and inventory is replaced.

Lovie’s said it will provide updates on its Facebook page regarding when it plans to reopen.
