STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Representatives from Woda Cooper Companies attended the latest meeting of Steubenville City Council to address questions surrounding the halt of construction of a 50-unit senior housing complex near Sunset Boulevard after crews uncovered a grave marker.
Officials noted the area was once the location of a Roman Catholic cemetery dating back to the 19th century.
Following the discovery, ground-penetrating radar was brought in and identified at least 20 locations that may require further investigation.
City officials said archaeologists will be hired to examine the site, and the process will follow all required steps outlined in the Ohio Revised Code.
