$122 Million Cancer Complex to Transform Ohio Valley

WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling City Manager Robert Herron joined representatives from WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital and the Regional Economic Development Partnership today to discuss the progress and regional impact of the future WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex.

During the discussion, leaders reflected on the partnership and collaboration that helped bring the project to life. The new cancer complex, currently under development on the former Ohio Valley Medical Center site, is expected to significantly expand access to advanced cancer care throughout the Ohio Valley.

The $122 million facility is also projected to provide a major economic boost to the region by creating jobs, attracting new investment, and strengthening the area’s healthcare infrastructure for years to come.

Construction continues in Center Wheeling, with the WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex expected to open in 2028.
