Home Destroyed in Tuesday Evening Fire in Wheeling

WHEELING, W.Va. — A house was destroyed Tuesday evening after a fire broke out in Wheeling’s Warwood neighborhood.

The Wheeling Fire Department responded at approximately 6:40 p.m. to the 400 block of Highland Avenue, where firefighters arrived to find the home heavily engulfed in flames and smoke.

Fire crews worked quickly to contain the blaze, bringing it under control in about 30 minutes.

Officials said the home is considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

During the response, a portion of Warwood Avenue was temporarily closed to allow firefighters to safely battle the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
