MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — Families are invited to enjoy a free evening of swimming and a movie next week during a Dive-In Movie Night at the Martins Ferry Municipal Swimming Pool.
The event will take place Friday and is presented by the Martins Ferry Public Library as part of the statewide America 250 Ohio celebration.
Swimming begins at 4 p.m., with the movie starting at 6 p.m. Guests can watch the film from the pool or poolside.
This year’s featured film is Unstoppable, the 2010 action thriller starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. The movie was partially filmed in nearby Bellaire and is based on the true story of a runaway freight train. Many local residents also appeared in the film as extras.
According to library officials, the event is part of the Ohio Goes to the Movies program, which encouraged libraries across the state to showcase films with connections to Ohio. A state grant helped fund the purchase of the projector, screen and public performance licensing needed for the event.
The Dive-In Movie Night is free and open to the public.
