Months-Long Drug Investigation Ends with Arrest, Cocaine and Marijuana Seized in St. Clairsville

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — A months-long narcotics investigation came to an end Wednesday after a traffic stop on Mall Road led to the seizure of suspected cocaine and marijuana and the arrest of a Cleveland man, according to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives stopped a vehicle as part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit in partnership with the Ohio Organized Crime Investigation Commission.

During the stop, investigators recovered approximately 110 grams of suspected crack cocaine and cocaine, along with 132 grams of suspected marijuana, authorities said.

The suspect, 36-year-old Donald Daniels of Cleveland, was taken into custody without incident.

Belmont County Sheriff James G. Zusack said the amount of suspected cocaine seized qualifies the case for a Major Drug Offender Specification under Ohio law.

Daniels was booked into the Belmont County Jail on one count of drug possession and one count of drug trafficking. Jail records show he is being held on a $1 million bond.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details at this time.
