STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Steubenville Big Red is preparing for another football season with its sights set on returning to the top of the region.
The four-time state champions finished the 2025 season with a 9-3 record, following three consecutive 13-win seasons. Their playoff run ended in the regional final against Bishop Watterson, giving the team added motivation entering 2026.
Head coach Reno Saccoccia is entering his 44th year with the program. With players lost from last season’s roster, Saccoccia said improvement from returning players will be important if Big Red hopes to take another step forward.
Among those returning is quarterback Santino Haney. Steubenville’s offense will also bring back several contributors, including Landon Crosier, Ziare Scurry, Braidyn Edwards, Demeatrus Benjamin and Kaiden Anderson.
Preparation this offseason has focused on assignments, adjustments and conditioning on both sides of the ball. Saccoccia has emphasized the importance of players being prepared physically and mentally to compete across the entire field.
For Big Red, the objective remains the same: win the region and put the program in position for another postseason run.

Steubenville opens the 2026 season at home against Riverside on Friday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m.
