WHEELING, W.Va. — Members of tactical law enforcement teams from several local, state and federal agencies gathered in Wheeling last week to strengthen coordination and share information and resources.
The Wheeling Police Department hosted members of SWAT and Special Response Teams for the multi-agency gathering, which provided participants an opportunity to discuss training, available resources and their experiences in the field.
According to the department, building relationships between neighboring agencies and becoming familiar with each team’s capabilities can improve preparedness when multiple agencies are called upon to work together during an emergency or other critical incident.
The gathering also allowed participating agencies to learn more about the resources and expertise available throughout the region.
The Wheeling Police Department said it plans to continue collaborating and training with its law enforcement partners in the future.
The department did not identify all of the agencies that participated in the gathering or provide details about specific tactical training activities.
