Rain Could Arrive Before Friday Night Football Across the Valley

OHIO VALLEY — Football fans across the Valley could see a change in the weather pattern Friday as rain moves through the region ahead of a cooler weekend.

Friday evenings have been largely dry since the football season began Aug. 21. Approximately 0.17 inches of rain has been recorded on Fridays during that period at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, with much of that precipitation occurring before kickoff.

That dry streak could be challenged this week as a cold front approaches the region. The forecast currently calls for an 80% chance of showers Friday.

However, newer short-term forecast models indicate the front could move through by mid-afternoon. If that timing holds, rain would move out before most Friday night football games begin, with clearing skies possible around kickoff.

Temperatures are expected to turn noticeably cooler behind the front.

The current outlook keeps the weekend dry and cool following Friday’s system.

Fans heading to games Friday should continue checking the forecast as the timing of the front could change as kickoff approaches.
