Belmont County Treasurer provides update on East Ohio Regional Hospital’s $1.2 million tax bill, potential foreclosure

MARTINS FERRY, Ohio – Belmont County Auditor Katherine Kelich updated River News Network regarding East Ohio Regional Hospital’s (EORH) delinquent $1.2 million tax bill on Wednesday.

Despite concerns about unpaid tax bills, Kelich confirmed that no foreclosure proceedings have been filed against EORH at this time. However, discussions are ongoing with hospital representatives to establish a payment plan to address the outstanding balance.

According to Kelich, the total amount owed by EORH stands at $1,214,357.10. This figure accounts for delinquent taxes from last year as well as the current year’s first-half payments.

When asked about additional financial obligations, Kelich noted that the total taxes owed also include special assessments from the Eastern Ohio Regional Water Authority (EORWA), though further details about any unpaid water bills were not provided.

River News Network will continue to follow this developing story.
