HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio – Two men led police on a high-speed chase through Belmont and Harrison Counties… demolishing a police cruiser in the process.
Late Tuesday night, Barnesville Police attempted to stop a reckless driver on Ohio State Route 800. Instead, the driver blasted the vehicle down the road across U.S. Route 22 and the Piedmont Lake Dam ending up on Belmont Ridge in Harrison County.
The suspect’s vehicle turned colliding head-on with a Barnesville police cruiser which caught fire… destroying it.
Two suspects fled on foot. A K-9 caught one of the two in short order. The other
dodged drones before one from the Ohio State Highway Patrol found him.
Patrick Mazik, 37 years-old of Belmont and Corey Hackathorn, 40 years-old of Martins Ferry
required a trip to Harrison Community Hospital before transport to the Belmont County Jail.

The pair will have to answer multiple felony charges associated with the traffic stop and high-speed chase.
They remain in the Belmont County jail as of Thursday.
