ODOT says Blaine Bridge work is underway

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Over the next several weeks, the contractor will be on-site at the Blaine Hill Bridge to complete survey work and associated tasks. The contractor anticipates that mobilization and work on the bridge will begin in mid-June. With construction on the Blaine Hill Bridge project being expedited by nearly two years, the contractor began working last week to finalize the extensive demolition plans to safely and effectively dismantle portions of the structure. The demolition plan is critical to the safety of the demolition process due to the unique bridge design and existing structural condition.

“We are very anxious to see physical progress on this project, as we know the public is too. ODOT appreciates the contractor’s careful approach to completing the necessary reviews. It is essential that this project is carried out safely and efficiently, ultimately leading to a final product that will preserve this critical structure for many years to come,” said ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Tom Corey.

The contractor for this $17,016,026 project is Beaver Excavating Company from Canton, Ohio. ODOT anticipates the bridge will reopen to traffic in the summer of 2026, with the project’s overall completion by October 31, 2026.
