Belmont County road closing for several weeks for bridge replacement

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Drivers in the Provident area in Belmont County near St. Clairsville should prepare for a significant detour as the Kagg Hill Bridge off Route 9 will be closed starting Wednesday, July 9.

According to the Belmont County Engineer’s Office, the existing bridge structure will be removed and replaced with a new design featuring updated steel beams and decking. No through traffic will be permitted during the construction period.

The section of roadway is frequently used and has not undergone major renovations in years. Officials recommend County Road 56, also known as Maynard Road, as the best alternate route for regular traffic.

The bridge and road are expected to reopen by August 6.
