STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Community members came together Sunday at the Fort Steuben Mall for a car show fundraiser benefiting 3-year-old Neiko Boni, who is fighting a rare form of cancer.
The event, organized by HealthMarkets Insurance agents, featured rows of classic cars, a dunk tank, and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds are being donated to help cover Boni’s treatment expenses.
HealthMarkets Insurance Agency owner Serena Heckathorn said the effort is part of her team’s annual community initiative.
“We just want to give back to the community. The agent, I give her a project to do for the summer to give back and donate to some charity or schools — she chose Neiko,” Heckathorn explained.
“It’s important that we get everyone out here and to help somebody in our community, and that’s going to be Neiko this time.”
Heckathorn added that her agency plans to organize more charitable events in the future.
