ODOT: Blaine Bridge Demolition 10% Complete; Reopening Set for Summer 2026

BLAINE, Ohio — Demolition work on the historic Blaine Bridge in Belmont County is progressing steadily, with crews having removed more than 75 box beams from the structure, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Lauren Borell, Public Information Officer for ODOT District 11 in New Philadelphia, tells River News that contractor Beaver Excavating Co. has dismantled about 10% of the bridge’s 400 beams. Additional removals are ongoing, and crews have also taken down the bridge’s concrete sidewalls.

ODOT says demolition work will continue over the upcoming months, and the contractor will work through the winter to ensure “steady progress.”

ODOT is continuing to post updates on the project on social media and the project website, Blaine Hill Bridge – U.S. Route 40 Rehabilitation Project.

The bridge is scheduled to reopen in summer 2026, with full project completion expected by Oct. 31, 2026.
