JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio – Kolmont Community Church located outside of Mingo Junction is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, marking a century of faith and community service in Jefferson County, according to its website.
The church traces its roots back to 1925, when it was established as part of an already-existing Sunday School with 38 charter members. The small congregation quickly grew, and by the late 1940s, members saw the need for a dedicated worship space. A building fund was launched, and the cornerstone of the current church building was laid on June 7, 1953.
Growth continued in the decades that followed. By the early 2000s, the congregation once again recognized the need for expansion. After years of fundraising, ground was broken on a new addition in July 2005. That project was completed in early 2006, with a dedication service and the church’s first baptism in the new space.
Herbert Fletcher has served as pastor since 2017.
