WHEELING, W.Va. — Reconstruction of the Washington Avenue Bridge has been delayed, but city officials say work is expected to begin by the end of the month.
According to Wheeling officials, the project was pushed back due to the need for utility relocations before construction on the new bridge could move forward.
Once work begins, the project will replace the aging bridge structure and improve safety and accessibility for motorists and pedestrians.
City officials say they are coordinating with contractors and utility providers to finalize preparations and minimize further delays.
