ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — The Belmont County Board of Elections planned to certify last week’s election results Wednesday night, but the process didn’t go as expected.
After reviewing vote batches and double-checking totals, board members said they were unable to confirm exact numbers. Officials cited what they jokingly called “arith-me-trickery” as they worked through the calculations.
The delay, they said, is largely due to the unusually high number of write-in votes, which numbered in the hundreds.
The board plans to reconvene once all vote totals have been verified to ensure accuracy before officially certifying the election results.
