Historic Train Ride Through Ohio Planned for America 250 Celebration

DENNISON, Ohio — A train ride and festival planned for April 2026 is set to be a centerpiece of Ohio’s contribution to the United States’ 250th birthday celebration.

America 250-Ohio, the official state commission commemorating the nation’s semiquincentennial, has announced the 250 Buckeye Train & Transportation Celebration, hosted at the historic Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, a National Historic Landmark known for its vital role during World War II.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the 250 Buckeye Train, a restored vintage railcar, will depart from Columbus for a scenic, four-hour trip along the Panhandle Pennsylvania Railroad line to Dennison. Passengers will enjoy a three-hour layover in Dennison for the Transportation Celebration before returning to the Columbus. The experience repeats Sunday, April 26, departing from Newark, with a stop in Coshocton, before arriving at the depot for the second day of festivities.

The Transportation Celebration will be open to the public and free to attend. The event will transform the historic depot into a vibrant time capsule featuring 1940s swing music, authentic military vehicles, reenactors in period dress, and a USO-style stage show. The celebration will also showcase a 250 Car Show with classic vehicles from different eras, vintage airplane flyovers, and an Age of Steam locomotive on display.

Tickets for the 250 Buckeye Train are now on sale through the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum. For more information, visit the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum website.
