Bellaire High School Unveils New On-Campus Health Center for Students and Community

BELLAIRE, Ohio – Ohio Hills Health Center is celebrating the grand opening of its new school-based health center (SBHC) inside Bellaire High School, along with recent facility renovations. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and public open house will take place Friday, August 15, at 1 p.m.

The event invites residents to tour the upgraded space and learn about the healthcare services now available to students, school staff, and the wider community.

Jeff Britton, CEO of Ohio Hills Health Center, said the project was made possible through collaboration with the Bellaire Local School District, the Ohio Department of Health, and technical assistance from Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Funding came from a state planning and implementation grant aimed at improving health and education outcomes for students.

Bellaire Local Schools Superintendent Derrick McAfee noted that the health center is already helping reduce absenteeism and improve access to care, which in turn supports student success.

Operating like a traditional doctor’s office, the SBHC offers primary care services, accepts most insurance plans, and provides a Patient Discount Program for those who qualify. Staff can also assist with applications for Medicare, Medicaid, or Marketplace coverage.
