Weirton City Council Moves to Reopen County Road Fire Station

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Weirton City Council Monday night took the first steps to reopen the County Road fire station.

Council heard the first reading of an ordinance to reinstate a municipal service fee and raise it to $5. The fee would fund six additional firefighters at the County Road station, which had previously operated as a volunteer facility.

Council members also discussed the cost of new fire engines, ranging from $1.5 million for a basic engine to $2 million or more for a ladder truck.
