MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — Belmont County Treasurer Katherine Kelich says the county plans to move forward with a tax auction of the former East Ohio Regional Hospital campus in Martins Ferry.
Kelich said negotiations regarding the property have come to an end, prompting the county to begin the process of selling the site for delinquent taxes.
The auction will include approximately seven acres covering the hospital buildings and surrounding grounds. County officials say taxes and associated fees on the property currently total about $2.2 million.
No auction date has been set at this time. However, officials noted that state law requires a legal advertisement announcing the sale to run for three consecutive weeks before the auction can take place.
