New Store Bringing Jobs to Adena — Here’s When It’s Expected to Open

ADENA, Ohio – Dollar General is building a new store in Jefferson County in Adena at 1187 U.S. Route 250, with the location expected to open in early summer 2026, company officials told River News.

They say the opening date could change depending on construction progress.

The new Adena store is expected to employ between six and 10 workers, depending on operational needs. Those interested in applying for positions can visit Dollar General Careers for available openings.

Dollar General says several factors are considered when selecting new store locations, including providing customers with convenient access to affordable retail options and meeting community needs for value and selection. They added that Dollar General strives to provide convenience for customers who may not have affordable nearby retail options.

The retailer offers groceries, health and beauty products, cleaning supplies, housewares, seasonal merchandise and basic clothing, along with products from nationally known brands such as Clorox, Procter & Gamble, Kimberly-Clark, Unilever, Kellogg’s, General Mills, Nabisco, Hanes, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola.

Dollar General also highlighted the work of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, which supports literacy and education initiatives in communities served by the company’s stores. Since its founding in 1993, the foundation says it has awarded more than $278 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries to support literacy and education programs.
