WHEELING, W.Va. — Creativity is on full display in Wheeling as the annual Crosscurrents exhibition brings together some of the region’s most talented artists for a powerful and diverse showcase.
Held at the Oglebay Institute Stifel Fine Arts Center, Crosscurrents 2026 features more than 75 works from artists across West Virginia and neighboring states, highlighting everything from bold abstract paintings to intricate mixed media and ceramics.
This year’s top honor, Best in Show, was awarded to “Knocked Sideways” by Donald Depuydt of Leesburg, Virginia — a striking piece that blends layered textures and dramatic contrasts.
Taking 2nd Place was “Container Ship at the Horizon” by Gregory Bucher of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, while 3rd Place went to Wheeling’s own Robert Villamagna for “Coffee Arcade,” a vibrant mixed media work that captures both nostalgia and modern design.
Additional recognition included honorable mentions for local and regional artists, further emphasizing the depth of talent represented in the show.
