Belmont County Animal Shelter Seeking Donations as Intake Levels Remain High
BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — The Belmont County Animal Shelter is asking for community support as staff continue caring for dozens of animals currently awaiting adoption.
According to shelter officials, there are currently 57 dogs available for adoption, creating increased demand for daily supplies needed to keep animals healthy, comfortable, and properly cared for.
River News spoke with Jessica Sinn, who said while the shelter regularly receives some donations, several essential items are running low.
“We always take blankets and towels, but we’re really in need of other supplies right now,” Sinn said.
Supplies Currently Needed
Shelter staff say the following items are especially needed at this time:
- Paper towels
- Wet puppy food
- Soft treats
- Bleach
- Laundry detergent
Officials say the supplies are used every day to maintain sanitary conditions and provide proper care for the animals housed at the shelter.
Community Support Remains Important
With intake levels remaining steady, shelter staff say community donations continue to play a major role in helping operations run smoothly and ensuring animals receive proper care while waiting for adoption.
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter at any time, and officials say every contribution — large or small — helps support the animals currently in their care.
Residents interested in adopting a pet are also encouraged to visit the shelter and learn more about the animals available for adoption.
