Ohio SNAP Users to See New Security Step

OHIO – Beginning tomorrow, Ohio residents using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program cards will be required to unlock their cards before making online or out-of-state purchases.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services say the new security measure is designed to help protect SNAP recipients from fraud and unauthorized transactions.

The agency says customers making in-person purchases with SNAP EBT cards should notice little to no change in the way their cards are used at stores and retailers.
