The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced lane and ramp closures on Interstate 70 eastbound in Wheeling beginning Friday, May 29.
Officials say the left lane inside the Wheeling Tunnel will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for road maintenance work.
The Market Street on-ramp to Interstate 70 eastbound will also be closed during that time.
Motorists are advised to slow down, use alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
Recommended alternate routes include:
- U.S. 40 westbound
- U.S. 40 to Interstate 70
- Interstate 470
Officials say inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could alter the project schedule.
