BELMONT, Ohio — Plans are moving forward for a major improvement project at the Belmont County Courthouse Campus aimed at enhancing accessibility, pedestrian safety, and connectivity throughout the area.
The project will focus on reconstructing portions of the courthouse campus to create improved bicycle and pedestrian access while bringing facilities into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Officials say the improvements are designed to make it easier for residents and visitors to access government services, public spaces, and historic landmarks located throughout the courthouse campus.
The project carries an estimated construction cost of approximately $3 million and is currently in the development phase. Work is expected to begin in the spring of 2026, with construction continuing through spring 2027.
In addition to improving accessibility, the project aims to create safer connections for pedestrians and cyclists traveling through the area while modernizing infrastructure around one of Belmont County’s most historic public destinations.
The courthouse campus serves as a central hub for county government operations and community activity, making accessibility and mobility improvements a key focus of the project.
State transportation officials continue to advance planning and environmental review efforts as the project moves toward construction.
