CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia anglers will be able to fish without a license during the state’s annual Free Fishing Days on June 13 and 14.
The two-day event allows both residents and visitors to fish in public waters across the Mountain State without purchasing a fishing license. The program is part of a nationwide effort to introduce more people to recreational fishing and encourage outdoor participation.
State officials are encouraging families, beginners and experienced anglers alike to take advantage of the opportunity by exploring West Virginia’s lakes, rivers and streams.
The annual event also highlights the state’s outdoor recreation opportunities and helps connect participants with local fishing destinations.
Those looking for places to fish can use the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources’ online fishing resources to locate public waterways and popular fishing spots throughout the state.
Regular fishing license requirements will resume after the event concludes on June 14.
