Emergency Crews Respond to Serious Workplace Injury in Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — Emergency crews responded Tuesday morning to a reported workplace accident at an industrial facility on Energy Road near the Mitchell Plant in Marshall County.

According to emergency communications, responders were dispatched shortly after 11:30 a.m. for a report of a worker who had fallen and suffered a leg injury involving rebar.

Initial reports indicated the man struck his head on a ladder during the incident. Additional information from dispatch suggested the worker may have fallen from an elevated platform estimated at approximately 50 feet.

Emergency personnel advised the worker had been removed from the hole by the time crews arrived. A medical helicopter was initially considered, and preparations were made for a potential landing zone near the scene.

Responders later canceled the helicopter request and instead requested additional manpower to assist with the rescue. Crews reported the patient was located on an elevated catwalk and needed assistance being brought down safely.

The patient was eventually placed in an ambulance and transported to a hospital for treatment.

The extent of the worker’s injuries was not immediately available.
