BELLAIRE, Ohio — Railroad tracks are being installed at the Great Stone Viaduct Plaza as the community prepares to welcome a historic Baltimore and Ohio Railroad caboose.
Project organizers say this is the first time tracks have been laid at the site in more than 150 years. The previous rail installation reportedly occurred in 1854.
The new section of track will become the permanent home of Baltimore and Ohio Caboose No. C-3825, which is expected to arrive in Bellaire later this month.
The addition is part of ongoing efforts to preserve the village’s railroad history and develop the Great Stone Viaduct Plaza as a local attraction.
Organizers credited John Gianangelli, Tom Breeden, Dick Frizzi and numerous volunteers and supporters with helping move the project forward.
Additional information about the caboose’s arrival is expected to be announced as preparations continue.
