Governor DeWine Signs Law Ending Absentee Ballot Grace Period, Tightening Voter Verification

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has signed Senate Bill 293 into law, eliminating the grace period for absentee ballots and tightening voter verification procedures.

The legislation requires that the citizenship of registered voters be verified on a monthly basis. Supporters say the law strengthens election security, while critics argue it could make voting more difficult for some residents.
