WHEELING, W.Va. — Paul J. Harris, a former Wheeling attorney, reported last week to a federal prison in Glenville, West Virginia, after being sentenced to eight years and one month on 29 counts of fraud and money laundering involving clients’ money.
Harris, 63, has also been suspended from practicing law.
Harris is seeking a new trial and has appealed the guilty verdict to the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeal argues, in part, insufficient evidence, improper jury instructions related to wire fraud, and due process violations.
The deadline for the court to respond to Harris’s appeal is June 18.
