Morrisey Announces $62 Million in Rural Health Funding Across West Virginia

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Patrick Morrisey announced Friday that more than $62 million in funding opportunities are now available through the state’s Rural Health Transformation Program, a major effort aimed at improving healthcare access across West Virginia.

The announcement was made during an event at Camden Clark Hospital, where state leaders highlighted the need for stronger healthcare systems, especially in rural communities.

According to Morrisey, the funding will support initiatives focused on expanding telehealth services, improving healthcare technology, and recruiting and retaining medical professionals throughout the state. The program is also designed to reduce administrative burdens on providers and improve overall care delivery.

“We are excited about the opportunity this program gives us to improve healthcare outcomes across West Virginia while helping more people return to the job and participate in our growing economy,” Morrisey said.

State officials say the Rural Health Transformation Program takes a broader, system-wide approach to addressing healthcare challenges, particularly in underserved areas where access to care remains limited.

The governor also credited federal partners, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, for supporting the initiative and helping bring additional resources to West Virginia.

Officials noted that more funding opportunities through the program are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The initiative is backed by a federal award totaling more than $199 million through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
