WEIRTON, W.Va. — The Weirton Area Water Board has issued a boil water notice for customers affected by recent water line work on McKinley Road.
According to the notice, repairs were completed on Monday, June 1, after a water line was flushed and the water distribution system temporarily opened to the atmosphere. As a precaution, the utility is requiring affected customers to boil their water before use until testing confirms the water supply is safe.
The notice impacts residents and businesses along McKinley Road, Cleveland Road, and other nearby areas that experienced low or no water pressure during the repair work.
Customers are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or food preparation. Bottled water may also be used during the advisory.
Water samples will be collected and tested. Officials say results are expected no sooner than 24 hours after sampling, and the public will be notified when the boil order is lifted.
