WHEELING, W.Va. — Police responded to a report of a possible shooting incident Monday afternoon in the Warwood area of Wheeling.
According to emergency communications, a caller reported that their child was walking near North 17th Street and Richland Avenue when a red Ford Mustang allegedly stopped nearby. The caller said an individual exited the vehicle, fired two shots, placed the firearm in the back seat, and then drove away.
Officers made contact with the juvenile and moved them to a safe location while units searched the surrounding area.
The caller described the vehicle as a red Mustang with some white markings. The occupants were described as white males who were reportedly wearing ski masks, with the driver allegedly not wearing a shirt.
Police canvassed the neighborhood and went door-to-door seeking surveillance footage that may assist in the investigation. Officers also attempted to locate a vehicle matching the description and later observed a similar vehicle in the area.
No injuries were reported, and no arrests had been announced as of Monday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation.
