POWHATAN POINT, Ohio — A scenic golf course in Belmont County has earned statewide recognition as part of a new initiative designed to encourage tourism across Ohio.
The Clair Mar Golf Course in Powhatan Point has been selected as one of seven courses in southeastern Ohio included on the newly launched Ohio Golf Trail, a program created by Ohio Tourism to showcase public golf destinations that encourage travelers to explore communities throughout the state.
The trail highlights 182 public golf courses across Ohio, promoting golf as a travel experience that benefits local economies through overnight stays, dining, shopping and other visitor spending.
Belmont County Tourism Executive Director Jackee Pugh said the recognition shines a spotlight on one of the county’s hidden gems while helping attract new visitors to the region.
“It’s a beautiful course, and we’re excited to see a Belmont County destination recognized as part of a statewide promotion,” Pugh said. “Golf travelers spend time in our communities, supporting local businesses and strengthening our tourism economy.”
Located along the Captina Conservancy watershed, Clair Mar is a nine-hole public course known for its scenic setting and welcoming atmosphere, offering golfers a relaxing round in one of eastern Ohio’s most picturesque landscapes.
Ohio Tourism describes the initiative with the slogan, “Some of Ohio’s best road trips begin with tee time,” encouraging golfers to discover courses and communities throughout the Buckeye State.
Golfers interested in exploring the Ohio Golf Trail can view participating courses and plan trips through the Ohio Tourism website.
