Belmont County Man Pleads Guilty in Bomb Threat Case

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — An 18-year-old Belmont County man has pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges stemming from a series of bomb threats made to businesses earlier this year.

Larry Harvey entered guilty pleas Monday in Belmont County Common Pleas Court to three counts of making terroristic threats and three counts of inducing panic.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed three additional charges.

During the hearing, Harvey answered questions from the court and acknowledged that he understood the constitutional rights he was giving up by entering guilty pleas. He also told the court that he did not graduate from high school or obtain a GED.

Judge John Vavra advised Harvey that the offenses carry a potential maximum sentence of 12½ years. The court noted that sentencing could include a prison term or community control sanctions, depending on the outcome of a pre-sentence investigation.

Judge Vavra ordered the investigation and scheduled sentencing for July 27.

Harvey was returned to the Belmont County Jail without bond, where he will remain until sentencing.
