Two Arrested Following Steubenville Drug Investigation

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Two men were arrested following a drug investigation and the execution of a search warrant in Steubenville on Monday.

The Jefferson County Drug Task Force, assisted by the Jefferson County Special Response Team and Steubenville Police Department, executed the warrant at a residence at 390 Terri Avenue.

Authorities said 32-year-old Jerry Crossland of Steubenville and 33-year-old Athony Hawkins of Weirton were taken into custody.

During the search, detectives reported seizing approximately 14 grams of cocaine, fentanyl, pills, a firearm and cash.

Crossland was identified by authorities as a fugitive from justice who was also out on bond in connection with a previous weapons violation. He was charged with possession of cocaine and having weapons while under disability, both third-degree felonies, along with fifth-degree felony possession of fentanyl.

Hawkins was taken into custody on outstanding warrants and was additionally charged with third-degree felony possession of cocaine.

Both men remained in custody at the Jefferson County Justice Center pending arraignment.

The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
