MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — Business representatives, government officials and community organizations gathered at Grand Vue Park Thursday for the annual State of Marshall County Breakfast.
Hosted by the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, the event brings together organizations from across the county to discuss current projects, economic activity and the community’s future.
Representatives from several major local institutions participated, including the public school system, WVU Medicine and the City of Moundsville. Ongoing investments and development throughout Marshall County were among the major topics discussed during the event.
West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner also attended the breakfast. Veteran-owned organizations and businesses that have operated for more than a century were recognized during the gathering.
Economic development was another focus. Marshall County officials discussed the county’s approach to budgeting and efforts to maintain a competitive environment for attracting businesses and industrial development.
One of the major projects highlighted was Calpine Energy’s planned natural gas power generation facility in Moundsville. The company announced earlier this year that it was moving forward with the project, which has been described as approximately $1 billion in private investment.
The annual breakfast also provided an opportunity for local leaders and members of the business community to connect and share information about projects taking place throughout Marshall County.
Organizers plan to hold the State of Marshall County Breakfast again around the same time next year.
